Online Counselor Lydia Cerpa LCSW

Although I have more than 35 years of professional counseling experience, I continue to genuinely care about my clients. I will meet you with a caring and empathic disposition. As you look for solutions and positive changes in your life, I will value your emotions and experiences.  We will work together to develop your plan to find wellness. Online counseling allows me to offer you an easy and convenient alternative to traditional in-person therapy at a local office.

My bilingual bicultural heritage as a Puerto Rican from New York City has helped me to be aware of culture and how that impacts people. It is important to respect individuality and diversity in developing healthy emotions and coping skills. Whatever your background is, I will provide a safe and respectful space for you to explore your emotional needs.

Online Counseling Experience

My counseling experience has been with individuals of all ages including couples and families. I will use various tools and skills that are research based to be effective. Together we can use these tools to develop a personalized plan for you to develop your wellness goals.

Previously in my career I worked in an in-patient psychiatric hospital with severely ill patients.  This experience helps me to evaluate my clients’ personal safety and when it is time to transition from outpatient to an inpatient setting. Therefore, as a tele-health provider, I will only work with clients who are suited for outpatient counseling.

Mind & Body Online Counselor

Another important part of wellness is maintaining the balance between mind and body. After developing my own consistent yoga practice, I became a certified yoga instructor in 2010. Recent research supports the connection between brain health and the practice of yoga. Therefore, I work at incorporating the tools of mind and body wellness as a counselor. Teaching about breathwork, as well as mindfulness and meditation are other ways I help clients to achieve balance and stability.

In 2014 I began to work as a military family life counselor. In this role I provided non-medical counseling to service members and their families, helping to improve resiliency, relationships and maintain peak performance.  Working on military bases around the world has broadened my perspective of developing wellness in a variety of places and circumstances.

Eventually, we all face times when talking to someone in a confidential, unbiased, and skilled counseling situation could be useful. Please visit the Online Counseling FAQs page and learn how easy this process can be.
